GPS pros and cons + Technology

Today in Human Geography class with Mr.Schick we talked about the Global Positioning System, short for GPS. A GPS gives us precise location were ever we are in the world. It is so precise because it uses satellites (four of them) to determine distance from them, to determine your exact location. This is so good that it can give you turn-by-turn directions, and helps pilots and sea captains to know what to expect, it also gives location for social media applications in smart phones. However because it gives apps and social media your location it always knows were you are, and someone out there always knows were you are. And then for an example an "Alexa" is always listening to your conversations whenever its on. It listens and tracks everything said but only responds when someone says, "Hey, Alexa....". Because it does this it can get personal information from you based on your location and what it hears. After that discussion in class we began talking about how certain points on Earth are unique. We said that each point on the map is distinguished by specific characteristics, and because its so specific it can help geographers to identify similarities and differences among Earth.
