Migration
Today in Human Geography with Mr. Schick we learned about migration. We learned that mobility is all types of movement, like going from school to the store and then home is mobility. We also learned that migration is defined as a permanent move to somewhere else, but their are many different types of migration. Most people relocate a short distance and remain in the same country, but some long distance migrants move to other countries in major centers of economic activity. Migration can also be divided into two categories. One being internal migration a permanent move from one country to another either voluntary or forced, and Internal migration a permanent move within the same country either interregional or intraregional. Then there are international migration patterns, where approximately 9 percent of the worlds people are international migrants, Global patterns reflect migration tendencies from developing countries to developed countries= Net out migration and net in migration. Then in the U.S there are 3 main eras of migration, colonial settlements in seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, mass European immigration in the late 19th and 20th centuries, and Asian and Latin American integration in the late 20th and early twenty first centuries.
